Still not sure. He’s campaign slogan was “Let’s Make America Great Again.” It might be a little before a whole lot of people’s cognitive memories, but it was used long before Trump stole it. It was used by a man long revered by the GOP as the paradigm to which all true conservatives measured themselves . . . Ronald Wilson Reagan. Surprised?

So, what happened? How could the party that honored, admired and held this man in the highest esteem be the same party that now supports Trump? The party of “family values” is now the party that is complicit in taking babies from immigrant parents. The party of “free trade” is now the party supporting a president that is intent on starting trade wars even with our allies. The party of Lincoln that freed the slaves; of Teddy Roosevelt with his “Square Deal” (look it up), National Parks and Panama Canal, of Eisenhower who established NASA, signed the Civil Rights Bill of 1957 and opposed McCarthyism; of many Republican presidents and legislators that moved our country forward . . . not backward . . . is somehow now the party of Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is a literal Johnny Come Lately to the Republican Party. How about the old Republican guard stop hiding, cowering from the reality of what is happening to their party and fight back?
