I will be offline for what I hope will only be a short time. I’m taking time to post this for those of you that I have come to think of as friends. As some of you know, my family has been particularly hard hit by cancer this past year. My sister has been fighting ovarian cancer and once again has been hospitalized. This time is different. She is not doing well. I ask each of you to speak to your “higher power” on her behalf and, most especially, that of her 19 year old son. This young man has been handed a terrible burden to deal. You see his father died before he was even born and his mother is the only parent he has every had.
There really isn’t much else I can say, but thank you and bless you all.

that your sister will be showing signs of improvement
even as I write this out for you, it is very distressing
for you and you need time out, take all you need and
we, your friends here will be thinking about your sister
and of course her son, and you too Miss. D as this is

My partner went through a bout of non-hodgkin’s lymphoma several years back so I know the darkness and dread with which it can fill our lives. I’m so sorry. I don’t know you but my sister-in-law has cancer as well, with two little kids, 4 &3. So far she is doing ok but it’s still growing. I don’t know how she or my brother go on every day. I feel for your nephew, I guess all I can say is be there for him….as I try to be there for my brother. I will keep her in my prayers.

Oh, Miss Demure, I am praying very hard RIGHT now for your sister, her son, and YOU! We just buried another friend (one 1.5 years older than myself) here yesterday, victim of cancer. Lung cancer is particularly rampant in this NW Alabama community where the powers that be think EPA are communists and allow people to burn tires within a mile of city halls, hospitals, schools, nursing homes: you get the picture! I cry with you and pray with you RIGHt NOW!

I’m going to break all my own rules here, but I wanted to get all the wonderful comments on this post approved in the shortest amount of time possible and leave a short update.
Thanks to all of you for sending your support through your comments and “likes.” I can’t tell you how often the the past couple of days you have bouyed my spirits with your kindness.
It’s 7AM Sunday morning (for me anyway) and I’m home to try to get some sleep. Both my sister and her son are working hard to keep a positive outlook. We hope to meet with her doctor tomorrow some time to discuss alternative treatments (standard treatment has not been effective). I’m working on getting her case reviewed by the the specialists at the local university medical center.
Again, thank you all from my heart. Bloggers are the best people in the world.

Just know that we are all thinking about you and wishing you, your sister and her son very well, don’t worry about not being able to keep up on here, that is not important at all, but your well being and trying to get some rest in between visits to your sister is very important, and so do try to sleep whenever you have the opportunity…
