When it all starts spinning out of control
Focus on the small moments that have made you smile
The bits and pieces that supplied some happiness
Vanilla shakes . . . Tang! . . . no mint . . . creepy JIB tacos . . . Chinese food . . . Milk Duds . . . head butts . . . knee massage . . . “The Map” . . . poodle hair . . . “Moist Towelette” . . . George Carlin . . . music . . . yoga . . . writing . . . snuggling . . . talking . . . laughing . . . chomping gum . . .
A thousand seemingly insignificant things
That make it tolerable to get out of bed every day
These, the priceless gifts we gave one another
Love is in the modest gestures, not the grand overture
